BHANGRA is an energetic celebration dance from the Punjab region of India that for centuries has been performed, among other things, to celebrate the harvest. Bhangra is also an uplifting musical style that has developed rapidly in recent decades. Both the dance and the music have been prominently featured in Bollywood films in recent years.

FUNKY because we don't do anything the traditional way! Funky Bhangra is not a traditional Indian restaurant, but rather a funky blend of spices, fun, and atmosphere! We draw inspiration from food traditions in India, Sri Lanka, Sweden, and Iceland.

YESMINE OLSSON is the owner and creator of Funky Bhangra. She was born in Sri Lanka, grew up in Sweden, and planted her roots in Iceland over 25 years ago. Yesmine has worked for decades as a passionate chef, taught cooking courses, produced Bollywood shows with singing, dancing, and feasting, published four cookbooks, and hosted her own cooking show on RÚV.
