Thorvaldsenstraeti 2-6, 101 Reykjavík
The Old Women's School was founded in 1874 at Austurvöll in the home of the couple Þóra and Pál Melsteð. However, they had the house demolished in 1878, but built a new one in the same place. The Women's School was operated there until it moved to Fríkirkjuveg.
The building has now been reconstructed in an elegant way, and it is safe to say that there are unique spaces for events and parties. Here the present meets the past, and it should be noted that all the art objects and paintings in the Old Women's School are by Icelandic artists.
In fact, there are two halls, the Red one - and the Blue one.
It is possible to rent the spaces individually or together.
The halls are best suited for receptions of various kinds - or smaller dinner parties.
License is for up to 155 guests in both sales in total.
The Red Hall has a large bar, while the Blue Hall has a portable bar.
You can access the balcony from the Blue Hall, which looks out onto Austurvell.
It is possible to install 65-inch screens in both halls.
A sound system in the hall is suitable for simple music performances and speeches, but not for singing or entertainment.
However, it is possible to rent additional equipment that is needed for this.
